FAQ

Q:How much fabric will I need for my slipcover ?
A:  This will depend on the piece of furniture and any designer details. A gathered skirt will require more fabric that a tailored skirt . A printed fabric such as  a large stripe may require  extra fabric.   A print which has a motif that needs centering may require extra fabric. General yardage estimates are available on the Slipcover Prices page~

Q: What kind of fabric is best for a slipcover ?
A: I personally like a  mediumweight Cotton or Cotton blend such as Twill, Canvas ,Ticking or Duckcloth works well. My favorite slipcover fabric is Linen , but not a s thin weave Linen, a Mediumweight Linen.  54" designer fabrics work well . Nothing too heavy like upholstery fabric, especially if it is rubber backed, that is way too thick. Slipcovers hang best with a mediumweight fabric~

Q: The fabric says Dry Clean only, can I still use it for a slipcover ?
A: Usually I will say yes~ I have washed all kinds of fabric(even the ones that say dry clean only) since I have been sewing covers. If your in doubt you can buy a 1/2 yard and give it a whirl in the washer and dryer and see how it comes out. I just never wash silk, nor have I made slipcovers from silk.  Just about everything can be washed and should be, so you can wash your covers when needed and not have to dry clean them.

Q: I see you charge to wash and dry my fabric. How am I suspose to wash 18 yards of fabric?
A: I do charge $2.50 a yard for that service. Fabric must be washed and dryed before making your slipcover to insure that it does not shrink the first time you have to wash it. That only makes perfect sence right? If you choose to wash your own fabric I suggest cutting it into 3 or 4 yard lengths, washing it in warm water with no detergent and tumble dry . Remove promptly to cut down on wrinkling~
Q: How long will my furniture be gone? I can't live with my husband long with his favorite chair missing in action~
A: My turn around time is usually 2-3 weeks, just depends how busy I am. I will not take your husbands chair away until I am ready to cover it. We want this to be as least  stressful as we can make it~  (been there)...  I take my clients on a  first come first serve basis ~
Q: I don't have any way to get my furniture to you?
A: Kari's Covers can pick up and or deliver your item for a charge ~
